Mid-November Duck Survey Present a Hopeful Season
Friday, December 12, 2008
Duck surveys conducted by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Park and Delta Wildlife indicate that there were more than twice the number of ducks in the Mississippi Delta this November than counted during the same period in 2006 and 2007. Despite the lack of water, duck concentrations were strong in North Sunflower County and throughout the southeastern and southern most Delta Counties. Biologists and hunters are hopeful these numbers will remain strong as the mid-December counts are starting this week.
